Political graphic artist Fahmi Reza is well known for his deep and intricate pieces which often poke fun at royalty or politicians on various current and pressing issues.
Although he has the support of some Malaysians, he often gets into trouble with the authorities for his provoking pieces.
Following various satirical pieces on Johor Crown Prince Tunku Ismail Ibni Sultan Ibrahim (TMJ), Fahmi’s Twitter account was blocked by TMJ’s account a while back.
Recently, Fahmi was given the green light by the Pahang Prince regarding his piece on him. Poking fun at TMJ, Fahmi went on to compare how the Pahang Prince understands and accepts his work while on the other hand, TMJ blocks him.
TMJ blames it on his admin
The post has amassed plenty of attention and eventually caught the attention of the man himself. TMJ went on to message Fahmi personally and say that his account’s admin was the one that blocked Fahmi.
“Sorry my admin blocked you. I’ve asked them to unblock you. I invited you to meet back then but you didn’t want to. I will ask Marina to arrange.”
He shared his message to Fahmi on Twitter and said, “Sorry. Hope we get to meet. I like to meet those who are anti-monarchy. Interesting.”
“I’d prefer to be an independent activist.”
Fahmi went on to share his response to TMJ on Twitter. In his message he wrote, “Sorry, normally I would always reject and not entertain invitations to meet with any politician, head of government or anyone from the royalty to avoid the impression that I’m biased or close with anyone.”
“It would be easier for me to remain as an independent activist. I hope you understand why I rejected your offer. If we were to meet, all of the political sheep will label me as ‘TMJ’s slave’,” he added.
“Thank you for asking your admin to unblock. We can just talk through Twitter.”
