Our dads may rarely say “I love you” to us but the alpha figures definitely have their own ways of telling us that they are always with us, and will always love us.

In a recent TikTok post by @jobs_abraham, a Malaysian student shared how his father’s expression of love warmed his heart but at the same time, saddened him. The student, Ayob is scheduled to attend his graduation soon. In an event where the dress code is of utmost importance, his father wanted to make sure he fit all the criteria to enter the graduation hall.

Ayob’s father recently returned home when he was having lunch, and immediately showed a pair of shoes that he bought so he could attend Ayob’s graduation.

“I bought this pair of shoes just now, I should be able to enter the hall, right? It was only RM8.”

What Ayob’s father had in his hand was a pair of used, old shoes. Ayob, on the other hand, was touched and saddened to see his father’s effort, but he kept his emotions to himself.

He decided to share the moment in words via his TikTok as a memory prior to the graduation day.

“It startled my heart but thank you, dear dad,” Ayob expressed.

Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, Ayob, who will be graduating with a degree in Human Science Development said the convocation is scheduled on November 30 in Universiti Putra Malaysia, Serdang. In the comment section, many were touched by Ayob’s story, and some even offered to get his father a pair of new, better shoes.

Ayob, however, did not want that because he didn’t want to rely on others.

“Thank you, everyone, But I can still afford to get my dad a pair of shoes. Thank you so much,” Ayob told WORLD OF BUZZ.

A couple of days after the matter went viral, Ayob revealed that he had finally got his dad a pair of new shoes, which coincidentally, was also his father’s birthday present.
