The exploits of a man in Thailand caught national attention after he broke his own record for spending the longest time inside Oshinei, a Japanese buffet restaurant at Khon Kaen in Isan, Thailand.

Taking to its official Facebook account, Oshinei Khon Kaen revealed that the man had spent a total of 10 hours and 14 minutes at the restaurant, taking full advantage of its unlimited buffet time promo.

A Thai man spends over 10 hours at a Japanese buffet restaurant to take advantage of its unlimited promo

The 29-year-old man, known only as Bank, had previously set the record at Oshinei restaurants nationwide on 11 August by spending 6 hours with 4 friends, but he was the only one left at the end as his 3 friends left first.

On 13 August, he spent 9 hours and 11 minutes at the Khon Kaen branch of the restaurant, and on 24 September, he broke his own record by spending 10 hours and 14 minutes alone at the eatery.

For context, Oshinei Khon Kaen is only open for 11 hours, so that means that he was there some 45 minutes after the restaurant opened and stayed until closing time.

Speaking to local media, Bank said that he often came to eat Japanese food at the restaurant since it was first opened as the eatery had an unlimited-time buffet promotion.

He was also encouraged by the restaurant’s social media account which always posts about the record of someone spending the longest time at the eatery, hence he had tried several times to break the record.

Bank was hungry after watching a movie at 6am and went to the restaurant

As for the record-breaking 10-hour-14-minute time spent at the restaurant, Bank said that he was hungry after watching a movie at 6am and since he couldn’t sleep, he decided to go to Oshinei and eat.

He added that he only managed 9 hours during this 4th time. Usually, when he eats at the restaurant, he will eat slowly and when his stomach is almost full, he will eat ice cream and get drinks. Afterwards, he would order food again.

He also goes to the bathroom once in a while to stretch and come back to the table and eat again.

Well, Bank better start coming in even earlier and stay until closing time to hold the record again as a group of 5 friends had since broken his record by staying for 10 hours and 50 minutes at Oshinei’s Nakhon Savan branch.
