A 35-year-old man was killed when he decided to pick up a grenade he had thrown at his ex-girlfriend’s house in an attempt to harm her, but it exploded in his hand instead.

The Khaosod English Facebook page shared further details on this incident, where the man showed up at his ex-girlfriend’s house in Surat Thani, Thailand, on Sunday (May 25) morning.

He wanted to get back together with her

After failing to convince her to get back together with him, he threw an M26 grenade at her house. However, when it did not explode immediately, he picked up the grenade and attempted to toss it again, but it exploded while he was still holding on to it.

While the ex-girlfriend remained unharmed as she managed to flee into her house before the explosion, 3 of her elderly relatives were left injured.

Police found drugs in the deceased man’s car

The authorities who arrived at the scene found 500 grams of crystal methamphetamine, also known as ‘Ice’, in a bottle inside the man’s car, which was damaged in the grenade blast.

Back in 2020, he had served a prison sentence of 5 months due to drug-related offences.
