The Thai police found the cremated body of a newborn in a charcoal kiln in Non Khong Subdistrict, Ban Fang, with bloodstains still at the scene.
An autopsy later confirmed the baby had been brutally killed, leading to the arrest of the 34-year-old mother and 30-year-old father, both of whom had prior criminal records.

The parents claim the baby’s death was accidental
During questioning, the mother (Panadda) initially claimed the baby’s death was an accident, saying she fainted and collapsed onto the newborn shortly after giving birth.
CCTV footage later showed Panadda and Phongsathorn riding a motorcycle toward the kiln, with the woman carrying a pink plastic basket believed to be holding the baby.

According to the Thai Examiner, medical experts said the blunt force trauma to the baby’s head points to intentional murder. They added that burning the body in a kiln showed a cold and planned act.
“This wasn’t a crime of passion; it was calculated,” one forensic doctor explained.
The autopsy also revealed that the baby was born healthy with no congenital issues. The injuries happened after birth, confirming that the parents had deliberately harmed the child.

She claimed financial struggles drove her to do it
Pannada later admitted that she had given birth alone in her room and explained that financial struggles and fear of not being able to raise the child pushed her to do it.
The couple also admitted to cremating the baby’s body in a charcoal kiln owned by a friend in a sugarcane field.
The couple has since been charged with joint intentional murder, along with charges of burying, concealing, or destroying a body. Police have also seized their unregistered motorcycle as evidence.
