The Terengganu State Government is set to organise a “Second Honeymoon” programme to help married couples who are facing marital problems resolve their issues. Terengganu State Welfare, Women’s Development, Family and National Unity Committee chairman, Hanafiah Mat revealed that the programme was continued after it succeeded in solving the marital problems of over 60% of the couples who had attended the earlier programme.

According to BERNAMA, this time around, the Terengganu State Government is organising the Second Honeymoon programme for 40 couples. Hanafiah Mat elaborated,

“Most of the married couples who were selected for the programme have been married for over five years. We want to help save their marriage and rekindle the lost spark in their marriage during the programme,”

The Second Honeymoon programme would entail a 3 days 2 nights honeymoon package packed with a host of activities for the couples. These include motivational talks held at interesting locations.

Hanafiah Mat further clarified that the programme organised by Terengganu Family Development Foundation (YPK) was also aimed to lower divorce rates in the state. Previously, local media reported that the number of single mothers in Terengganu saw an increase of approximately 10,000 within just a 3-year period.
