Today (7th May) marks the first day of interstate travel for those who have had their applications approved by the police. If you’re planning on travelling back during this season, do take note that authorities are still monitoring your travels to ensure you’re crossing states within reason.
Those found travelling without approval from police will be turned back, said Datuk Noor Azam Jamaludin, the state police chief, adding that nine roadblocks were stationed in Selangor at midnight on 7th May to check on drivers and motorists involved in interstate travel.
“The roadblocks will be set up at strategic areas of Selangor bordering other states. For example, (the borders) between Selangor and Negeri Sembilan, Pahang and Perak,” said the chief in a statement recorded by BERNAMA and Astro Awani while he was patrolling one of the roadblocks at KM14 of Jalan Kuala Lumpur-Ipoh, Selayang last night.
In conjunction with the implemented CMCO, authorities have designated four days, between the period of 7th May and 10th May, for citizens that need to travel across states for valid purposes.
Stay safe and only travel if you need to!
