Sultan Selangor has forgiven Sanusi for his insulting remark.
In an official statement from the Royal Selangor Office last night (September 26), Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah pardoned Kedah Menteri Besar, Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor who allegedly disputed his majesty’s wisdom in appointing state leaders.
“I accept your apologies, and you’re pardoned. I don’t wish to see Muslims becoming enemies with each other. We should always forgive if the person asking for forgiveness is sincere,” Sultan Selangor said.
The Selangor ruler, however, has a friendly reminder for Sanusi – think wisely before saying something.
His Majesty advised Sanusi always to be mindful of his words and not get too emotional.
“Don’t use inappropriate words when speaking to the people, especially when you’re in Selangor. I don’t want the people to be influenced and used to hearing abusive words and baseless accusations, especially from the leaders.”
His Majesty also highlighted that good behaviour and speech are important for Sanusi’s future.
“As a leader, you should think of the consequences of your words and actions,” Sultan Selangor reminded Sanusi.
In July last year, Sanusi compared the Kedah and Selangor state rulers, saying Selangor MB, Amirudin Shari wouldn’t be chosen as the MB in Kedah. PDRM later arrested Sanusi in Mont Kiara before being released on bail.
On Wednesday (September), Sanusi made a public apology to Sultan Selangor for his remark via a press conference.
Now that His Majesty has pardoned Sanusi, we hope this will serve as a reminder to all Malaysian leaders.
