Following an email that was shared to all students, it was said that “the student has been placed under isolation since the date of their return to campus” strictly limiting the student’s movement on campus. The university’s email went on to add that swab tests are being conducted for all students returning from high-risk areas and active efforts have been made to place these students under isolation as well.

“We would like to assure staff, students and parents that the case is an isolated case and has immediately been attended to upon identification.” The university also declared that they are working closely with the Ministry of Health (MOH) on how to proceed with the situation. It was also said that MOH conducted disinfection on campus today (29 September) as a precautionary measure.

UTP has also set up a COVID Response Team and has been very strict with adhering to all SOPs and taking extra preventive measures to ensure no outbreak of the virus takes place.

WORLD OF BUZZ has contacted UTP’s COVID Response Team and they have confirmed the contents of the email. They also added that all safety measures have been taken and the situation is under control.

While there is yet to be any confirmation from MOH regarding this case, the screenshot of this email which has been circulating on Twitter and WhatsApp is gaining traction online.

Stay safe, and stay tuned for more updates!
