“To serve and to protect.” The vow that all law enforcers have taken since the 1st day of their jobs but unfortunately, not many can keep the promises in this competitive world.
The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) arrested a law enforcer yesterday (November 10) in Johor Bahru after he was suspected of soliciting bribes in the form of sex. Astro Awani reported that the suspect, who is in his 40s “bribed” the woman in return for not taking action against her after she had failed to report herself at the station for drug offenses.
Sources said the man in his 40s was arrested while he was with a woman in her 20s in a special operation at a hotel in Johor Bahru at about 7.30 pm on Thursday night (November 9).
“The woman was arrested for drug offenses and is undergoing a two-year supervision period at an enforcement agency in Johor Bahru.”
Following the arrest, the suspect was brought to the Johor Bahru Magistrate’s Court for remand purposes this morning and Senior Assistant Court Registrar Chai Ing Hien issued a remand order for 4 days starting November 9 until 13 against the suspect.
Meanwhile, MACC Intelligence Division Director Datuk Azmi Kamaruzaman when contacted confirmed the arrest and said the case was investigated under Section 16(a)(B) of the MACC Act 2009.
Corruption is spreading like cancer. When a law enforcer is expected to serve and protect the citizens, who else can we turn to when we’re in need of help? Hopefully, the arrest will serve as a stern reminder to other law enforcers out there.
