A woman in Singapore recently took to TikTok to share her relatable struggle with a “big black” cockroach which suddenly appeared in her living room in the middle of the night and her unlikely saviour: A Foodpanda delivery rider!

The woman, TikTok user @germainIce posted a video comprising photos and screenshots of the incident which attracted the amusement of netizens.

It all started when the woman woke up in the middle of the night and ordered some food with the Foodpanda platform. When she stepped into the living room, the woman saw a “big black thing” on the floor and when she put on her glasses, her biggest fear was realised, as the thing was a huge cockroach.

Realising she was home alone, the woman was at a loss on how to deal with the situation when she remembered that she had ordered food.

The “desperate” woman then messaged the delivery rider, Desmond for help with the cockroach problem which left him perplexed and confused at first. However, he then asked the woman where the cockroach was to which she replied with a photo of its location.

When Desmond got there, he rejected the “expired Baygon” the woman provided and instead used his hands with tissue to catch the cockroach, to which the woman claimed that unlike her, the delivery rider was not afraid of cockroaches, even if they could fly.

Not only did Desmond deliver the food ordered and ‘settle’ the cockroach problem, but he also helped the woman throw her rubbish bag away.

Wanting to show her appreciation to her hero, the woman wanted to tip him via the Foodpanda app but couldn’t do so as the order had been completed. She even contacted customer service to check if she could still tip the delivery rider, but unfortunately, it wasn’t possible.

In the TikTok post’s comments section, many netizens praised Desmond and hoped that he would see the post of the woman giving her public appreciation to him.

One commenter hoped that Desmond and his descendants would be blessed, while another praised him as being ‘king’ for his ‘heroic’ actions.
