The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) is looking for more information in regards to an incident involving a vehicle with a Singaporean registration number which allegedly did not give way to an ambulance.
According to Harian Metro, the Johor Bahru Selatan District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Raub Selamat shared that his party has yet to receive any reports on this matter.
“No one has made a police report yet. Anyone with information can come forward so that the investigation can be carried out,” he said.
Prior to this, a dashboard camera recording had gone viral on social media, showing the Singaporean vehicle (believed to be a Mercedes A180) not giving way to an ambulance.
The ambulance of a private medical center could be seen with its lights and sirens on, trying to enter a lane though the Singaporean vehicle continued to move forward, disallowing the ambulance from merging in despite the ambulance driver raising his hand to ask for permission to enter.
Due to this, the Singaporean vehicle ended up colliding with the vehicle in front of it, though in the end, the Singaporean vehicle eventually gave in.
This incident is believed to have taken place at 4:37pm on Wednesday (December 7) on Johor heading towards the Customs, Immigration and Quarantine (CIQ) Sultan Iskandar Building (BSI) Complex.
Raub has since advised road users to also always obey road rules, including giving way to the authorities carrying out emergency duties such as ambulances, firemen or police.
He added that the act of not giving way to an ambulance could warrant an investigation in accordance with the Road Transport Act 1987.
