According to reports, former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has allegedly stepped down from Parti Pejuang Tanah Air’s (Pejuang) chairman post.
However, the sources, in a Berita Harian report today said he remained as Gerakan Tanah Air’s (GTA) chairman.
Right now, no official announcement has been made on the matter and it is learnt that Pejuang is expected to hold an Annual General Meeting on January 14 next year.
Dr Mahathir had previously lost his Langkawi parliamentary seat to Perikatan Nasional (PN) candidate Datuk Mohd Suhaimi Abdullah who won with a majority of 13,518 votes in the recently-concluded 15th General Election.
He obtained only 4,566 votes in a five-cornered fight and lost his deposit as Pejuang lost in all the 125 seats it contested in GE15.
Following Pejuang’s terrible defeat in all of the areas they contested in, Mahathir had previously said that he will be focusing on writing the history of Malaysia and activities in the country.
“Many things that have happened in this country have yet to be recorded, including what went down during the British rule.”
