A single mother who was allegedly raped by a police officer was charged in the Magistrate’s Court with two counts of trafficking and possession of methamphetamine.

According to Harian Metro, the woman and her ex-husband were charged with distributing suspected methamphetamine with a gross weight of 61 grams.

They were charged under Section 39B (1) (a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and can be punished under Section 29B (2) of the same act, which provides a mandatory death sentence upon conviction.

In the second charge, they were accused of having a suspected methamphetamine type drug with a gross weight of 13.6 grams. They were charged under Section 12 (2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and can be punished under Section 39A (1) of the same act, which carries a jail term of not more than five years and three to nine strokes of the cane if convicted.

The court has set a re-mention of the case and chemical report for 15 August.

Previously, a police officer was arrested after he was suspected of raping the single mother in a room at the Kota Bharu District Police Headquarters (IPD), last Saturday (5 June).

The 29-year-old suspect is said to have conducted the act at 3pm when the 27-year-old victim, from the Pengkalan Chepa police station lock-up, was taken to the suspect’s room for an investigation.

Based on a report by Harian Metro, sources shared that while in the room, the suspect allegedly undressed the victim and forced the women to perform oral sex and have sexual intercourse with him.

“The victim, who is a widow and has two children, was arrested along with her ex-husband, as a result of a raid by the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division (JSJN) of the Kota Bharu IPD, last Friday.”

“As a result of the raid, the police confiscated syabu and horse pills. The case is being investigated under Section 39B ADB 1952, Section 39A (1) ADB 1952 and Section 15 (1) ADB 1952. The suspect is the investigating officer responsible for handling the case,” the source shared.

Following the arrest, the victim and her ex-husband were remanded at the Pengkalan Chepa police station lock-up for a week, until this Friday (11 June).

“Based on the victim’s testimony, the incident happened when the woman was brought out of the lock-up by the suspect and was taken to the suspect’s room at the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division of the Kota Bharu IPD.”

“While in the room, the suspect stated that the victim’s case could be closed if she complied with his wishes. The suspect then forced the victim to perform oral sex and intercourse,” the source added.

The Head of the Kelantan Criminal Investigation Department (JSJ), Assistant Commissioner Wan Khairuddin Wan Idris confirmed the incident, adding that the suspect has since been remanded and is being investigated under Section 376 of the Penal Code and 377C of the Penal Code.
