Did Sin Chew Daily’s Facebook page go missing?
For our Chinese readers wondering about the inaccessibility of the media outlet’s Facebook page earlier this morning, Sin Chew confirmed that its page was temporarily unavailable due to a suspension.
“Meta has removed 5 of our posts this year, which includes social news about bullying, fraud cases, and sexual crimes.”
Sin Chew also confirmed that they appealed to Meta to regain access and restore their Facebook page.
“We have not violated any community codes or any social media regulations,” Sin Chew said in a statement.
Before its disappearance, Sin Chew had a whopping 2.6 million followers on its Facebook page.
This is not the first time a page has been removed
This is not the first time that a media outlet’s social media page was taken down this year. In June, China Press’ official Facebook page was also taken down for alleged violations, but the company eventually regained access to its social media page, which, at the time of writing, has gained more than 2.5 million followers.
Sin Chew Daily has since regained access to its Facebook page.
