Over a million suitcases go missing during air travel annually, ending up as unclaimed baggage. However, who would have thought that you could earn some extra money by selling these unclaimed items?
In a recent Facebook scam, unsuspecting individuals are being deceived by a fraudulent post pretending to be the official account of Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).
The post misleadingly promotes the sale of unclaimed luggage at a seemingly low price of RM16, luring potential buyers to click on a dubious website for a purchase.
One user even shared a comment admitting to having fallen for the scam, and urged everyone else to be cautious.
“Be cautious of this scam, everyone! I actually fell for it.”
Scammer accounts even went to the extent of posting fake reviews in the comment section to create a facade of legitimacy and credibility for potential buyers.
Luckily, some Facebook users have identified the scam and proactively informed others about the fraudulent nature of the post.
However, some internet users found the situation so amusing that they couldn’t resist commenting on it.
“I received this one.”
“I opened the luggage and got a car.”
“I got an elephant inside my luggage!”
Numerous alerts have been shared, cautioning fellow users to avoid the deceptive offer and refrain from clicking on any provided links.
