According to Malaysia’s Health Director-General Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, Saudi Arabia has now been added to the list of High Risk due to the Omnicron virus detected.

“Latest update: 30 out of the total 62 confirmed cases of Omicron variant in Malaysia were returnees from Saudi Arabia,” said the Health Director-General in an official Twitter posting on 25 December.

Since the country has been listed as high risk, the travellers are returnees now required to wear a digital tracker when they arrive in KLIA. When asked if summon is being given for those who broke quarantine rules under the post, Dr Noor Hisham replied, “Please allow us to investigate first and document all the facts before any action.”.

The people are also encouraged to get the booster shot when available, especially Sinovac recipients.

Although the Covid-19 cases in Malaysia seem to have decreased recently, please stay safe and go out only when necessary.
