Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob has called upon all Cabinet Ministers who are currently on leave or overseas to immediately return to Malaysia and start focusing on the flood woes currently plaguing our country. Furthermore, Ismail Sabri also told all Ministers who are planning to go on holiday to cancel their plans. As reported by national news agency Bernama, the Prime Minister was reported of asserting at a press conference after visiting flood evacuees at Sekolah Kebangsaan Bukit Piatu in Bentong yesterday,

“I have been deluged with questions about our Cabinet ministers. So, if they are on leave and planning to go on holiday, I want them to cancel that plan… If they are abroad, return immediately.”

The Prime Minister also revealed that he himself have postponed his work trip to Bangkok from 28 to 30 December 2021 in order to give his full attention to the flood woes faced by the rakyat right now. In the same press conference, Ismail Sabri also urged members of the security forces to focus on helping flood victims in cleaning their houses once they are allowed to return home.

Following the Prime Minister’s announcement, many Malaysians question the commitment of Cabinet Ministers that are still on holiday or overseas for not immediately returning to Malaysia to help out with the flood situation that they have to be called out by Ismail Sabri before doing so. Furthermore, given that the severe flood situation throughout the country have been ongoing for almost a week, many slammed these Ministers for not taking the initiative to return to Malaysia earlier.

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Lembah Pantai, Fahmi Fadzil even called on the Prime Minister to reveal the names of the Ministers that are currently overseas during this whole ordeal. Taking to his official Twitter account, Fahmi called upon Ismail Sabri to list out the name of Ministers that are currently on holiday overseas while the rakyat is suffering.

Furthermore, in an earlier tweet, Fahmi was perplexed at how they are still Cabinet Ministers that are still enjoying their holiday overseas while our nation is faced with severe floods. The Lembah Pantai MP asserted,

“The people are suffering, which Ministers are currently on holiday? Are you serious?”
