After the pandemic, many people are looking to spend their time and money on experiences. This includes travelling, concerts and exhibitions.
Well, if you’re one of these people then you might not want to miss the Museum of the Moon by Luke Jerram that will be happening at the Borneo Cultures Museum in Kuching, Sarawak.
This exhibition by the British artist will be showcasing an art installation of the moon, scaled-down, from 17 June to 5 August.
According to the website, the Museum of the Moon is 7 metres in diameter and a “detailed NASA imagery of the lunar surface”.
“At an approximate scale of 1:500,000, each centimetre of the internally lit spherical sculpture represents 5km of the moon’s surface.”
As this is a travelling artwork, it will be presented in different ways be it indoors or outdoors, so if you have experienced it before, it may be different at another location!
“As it travels from place to place, it gathers new musical compositions and an ongoing collection of personal responses, stories and mythologies, as well as highlighting the latest moon science.”
It is said that each of the locations will also feature different lunar-inspired events under the art installation.
So if you’re in Kuching or you’re going to visit soon, you should definitely have this in your plans! Here are some information that may help you in your planning.
Their working hours are Monday to Friday from 9:00 am – 4:45 pm and on weekends and public holidays, 9:30 am – 4:30 pm.
