Those who have known Malaysian food all their lives (and even those who have only tried it once) often times crave our local cuisine once they’ve gone overseas. Most of the time, these people would just come back for another taste. But, what if they can never return to Malaysia?
The SajatNur TikTok page recently showcased the controversial Malaysian entrepreneur, Nur Sajat, who is now based in Australia; making kuih Seri Muka while Live on a social media platform. She was following the guidance of netizens commenting on the Live session to make the dish.
Upon completing it, she tasted the pastry and started crying because of how much she missed the taste.
They wrote, “Sajat was craving for kuih Seri Muka.”
In the video, Sajat could be seen happily making the Malaysian pastry based on recipes and guidance given to her by netizens.
She went on to explain that she had been craving it and that the Malaysian markets in Australia sells it too, but it doesn’t taste as delicious.
After completing the kuih Seri Muka, she tasted a piece and immediately thanked netizen profusely for teaching her how to make it and started tearing up, adding that the end product tasted amazing.
Taking to the comment section of the post, many sympathised with her.
“It’s so heartbreaking to see her wiping her tears like that. She must miss her family, right?”
“Why am I also crying while watching Sajat? It’s so obvious that she’s touched and thankful to those who gave her recipes.”
