It’s only been the first day of our national Movement Control Order where Malaysians are encouraged and required to practice social distancing, but we’re already showing such disrespect for the measures put up in order to protect us from Covid-19. Some Malaysians were eating out at restaurants and coffee shops while others were opening up their roadside stalls and casually browsing morning markets.
Thankfully, one exemplary Malaysian state showed us how it should be done.
The We are Malaysians Facebook page took to their profile to showcase how empty the streets of Sabah are, which means that not only are Sabahans taking the Movement Control Order seriously, but also are taking the initiative to care for their health.

We are encouraged to practice social distancing by staying at home for the time being so that the Covid-19 virus is unable to spread itself through crowds. Hence, by avoiding going out, you not only save yourself from the virus, but also others.
We genuinely hope that the Malaysian people take Sabah as an example as to how to ride out the Movement Control Order, because the faster the virus is contained, the less time we’ll have to spend cooped up at home.
