Looks like Rosmah is not getting out of this mess without facing a lawsuit first!
A famous Lebanese wholesale jeweller known as Global Royalty Trading SAL has recently (26 June) filed a RM60 million lawsuit against Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor for the return of 44 pieces of jewellery seized in her Pavilion Residences. You guys remember the raid right?
According to Malaysiakini and the Malay Mail, the jewellery company based in Beirut conducts business all over the world and some of its customers are from royal families. It was revealed that Rosmah is actually a long-time customer and would often receive consignments of jewellery for evaluation and purchasing. The items that are not purchased would be returned to the company.
In this particular consignment on 10 February 2018, 44 pieces of jewellery were sent to Rosmah, which include diamond necklaces, rings, bracelets, earrings, and a tiara that are worth between RM500,000 and RM3,716,600.
To support its claim, Global Royalty even produced a letter numbered 926 and dated 22 May in which Rosmah had acknowledged the receipt of the jewellery. However, the company is aware that these precious jewellery are no longer in Rosmah’s possession as they’ve been seized by the authorities in May.
Therefore, Global Royalty is now seeking for the jewellery to be returned through a court declaration, otherwise Rosmah will have to pay for the jewellery. Yikes!
Considering how much jewellery were seized during the operations (1,400 chains, 2,200 rings, 2,800 pairs of earrings and 14 tiaras), we hope the rest of them are really gifts from others as claimed, otherwise how would she pay for all these jewellery?!
