Most girls love it when guys do romantic gestures to prove their devotion to them but for this guy, it seems that his plan backfired spectacularly.
According to Net Ease, the guy who models himself after Wang Sicong is apparently one of China’s fu’erdai, which literally translates to the rich second generation of China’s nouveau riche. While he may be rich, he certainly didn’t manage to buy his way into his crush’s heart as his over-the-top confession failed and went viral on Weibo, China’s social media recently.
Well, what did he do? Since he’s loaded, this guy drove his luxurious Porsche car to the campus of Hangzhou Normal University with a very special passenger to get the girl of his dreams. He bought a 2.5-metre tall teddy bear that reportedly cost about 10,000 yuan (RM6,350) that was so big he had to open the sunroof of his car to get it in. BTW, that’s a huge 8-feet tall bear!
He then approached his crush while clutching the bear as a crowd of students gathered to watch his elaborate confession. Unfortunately, the girl rejected his advances and told him, “I like the bear, but I don’t like you,” which only served to rub salt into his wound. Guess the bear has better luck in love than the guy!
After that, the lovelorn guy walked back to his car, along with the bear but hey, at least he’s now famous and he gets to dry his tears in the arms of a gigantic bear. It was reported that even the school’s official WeChat account posted about him. Oh dear!
However, there was another version of the story stating that the girl went off with the bear while the guy went back all alone to his Porsche, which does make a better place to cry than on a bicycle.
There has also been speculation that this could be a viral marketing stunt, as there are allegedly only four of these bears being sold in mainland China. Who knows?
Well, guess money can’t buy you love after all!
