When children decide to get themselves pets, it’s normally the parents who bear the brunt of caring for them most of the time, and it isn’t always a smooth process. However, there isn’t anything more wholesome than a parent learning to love the pet they never wanted in the first place.
A recent TikTok video has been making waves online after one Malaysian named Dayah shared a moment between her father and her pet cat named Abang Boboi. In the video posted to her page @dyhszhn, Dayah showed her father sitting on the floor at their house in Sepang while playing with Boboi, who was seated comfortably in the foot holder of a massage chair.
While Boboi sat still and rather unbothered, Dayah’s father proceeded to take out some accessories from a container next to him. Retrieving a pair of sunglasses, the man then placed said eyewear on Boboi’s face before taking a photo of the kitty using his smartphone. Within seconds, the retired policeman sent those pictures to a group chat on his phone.
Not done just yet, Dayah’s father then takes out a tiny fedora hat and places it on Boboi’s head, taking another photo and sending it to the same group once again.
Laughing together with the feline, Dayah’s father embraces his photography skills and calls Boboi handsome as he takes his photos.
“One question I always ask my dad is what he does now after retiring and receiving his pension. He told me he’s currently busy working as a photographer,” wrote Dayah in the caption of her post.
In a brief conversation with WORLD OF BUZZ, Dayah revealed that her father had actually not allowed their family to take in Abang Boboi at first. But after retiring and having to spend more time at home, he has grown to love and develop a strong bond with the animal.
Drawing laughs and praises from many commenters online, many Malaysians were humoured by the relationship between Dayah’s father and Boboi, saying that the cat was very well-behaved with the man.
“How did he get him to sit so still, almost as though he is frozen?” jested one user, while others said that Dayah’s father even went to the trouble to adjust Boboi’s accessories and the massage chair to ensure that he got a proper video.
Nevertheless, many users couldn’t help but make jokes at the duo’s expense, fascinated by and relating to their clear bond.
“He has to work just to get a bowl of kibble,” joked another person.
However, numerous commenters also mentioned how it is normal for those who say they do not want or like pets to end up loving them as much as their own children.
