A RapidKL bus caught on fire this morning!

A Malaysian, Jordan reached out to WORLD OF BUZZ  and shared the blazing view of the bus catching fire from his workplace. When asked about the location, Jordan told WORLD OF BUZZ that it took place in Ampang, right outside Menara Great Eastern this morning (January 29).

The front part of the bus, particularly the driver’s seat of the bus was completely ablaze, and thick, black smoke could be seen miles away.

According to an official statement by RapidKL earlier in the afternoon, the incident took place at 10:52 am, and the bus (303) was headed towards Lebuh Ampang.

6 passengers were on the bus and fortunately, everyone escaped the fire without any injuries.

“The captain of the bus noticed thick smoke emerging from the back of the vehicle, and immediately evacuate all passengers on board.”

The captain was trained to handle such a situation and thanks to his calmness, he managed to avoid the fire from spreading using the fire extinguisher in the bus.

The fire brigade reached the scene around 10:56 am, and it didn’t take long for the firefighters to eliminate the blazing fire. The bus was then brought back to the depot at noon, and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.

“We apologise to the affected passengers, and we would co-operate with the authorities in investigating the matter.”

You can watch the clip below, which was shared with us by Jordan.

Kudos to the Captain and the firefighter for their swift action!
