The Ramly brand and burgers are well-known among Malaysians and have been proudly accepted as one of the nation’s top street food offerings. But is it really worth getting if it costs RM10?
In a recent video that’s been circulating online, Traveling Solo Logs shared a vlog he did while he was out to get a Ramly burger in Bukit Bintang.
The vlog was initially intended to be a simple comparison between the Ramly burger and another burger joint. However, the video stirred up controversy on social media when the tourist man was charged RM10 for a regular Ramly burger.
In the video, the tourist can be heard confirming with the owner after being informed that the regular burger costs RM10,
“So, the regular burger is the one without cheese and egg, right?”
Netizens were quick to flood the comment section as they felt like the tourist got scammed by the stall for marking up the price for a normal burger.
“Avoid overcharging, even for tourists. This is not ethical.”
“RM10 for a regular burger? How dare these people do this. The stall owner should check their staff. Anyone could easily report this for not displaying the price menu.”
“Why would anyone take advantage of tourists like this? I really don’t understand it.”
“The stall could easily go bankrupt if they charge RM10 for a regular burger. With no price menu, it’s no wonder they could easily mark up the price for tourists. What a terrible seller!”
