The Pakatan Harapan (PH) – Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition has officially won the state of Penang in the 2023 State Election (PRN).
The Election Commission (SPR) announced that the coalition has won enough seats to form the state government by a simple majority.
As of the time of writing, the coalition has won 27 State Legislative Assembly (DUN) seats and has been given the mandate to form the new Penang State Government.
With caretaker Penang Chief Minister (CM) Chow Kon Yeow’s win in Padang Kota earlier today, he is set to retain the CM seat, making it his second and final term in the role, as Penang limit its CM to only 2 terms.
Do note that PH-BN may well win more seats as votes are still being counted but they are already confirmed to win Penang as no other parties or coalitions can catch up with them.
