When Covid-19 became a pandemic and lockdowns were issued in almost every country on Earth, people were scrambling to look for masks, gloves and sanitisers.
This has, in turn, prompted several companies to diversify their products a little to include the current essentials. One of these companies is staple clothing brand Uniqlo which is known for its durability and everlasting designs.
On 19 June, Uniqlo pushed out their Airism masks and it became an instant hit. Throngs of Japanese people were waiting in line for Uniqlo doors to open, people who wanted to buy it online crashed the site.
So what’s so special about this mask?
First things first, the mask is made with their Airism material that is super comfortable on the skin. It has a three-layer structure where the innermost layer is smooth on the skin and breathable. The middle layer is a nano filter that blocks out 99% of pollen and bacteria and the outermost layer Ultraviolet Protection Factor of 50.
The face mask comes in two colours (white or black), three sizes (small, medium, large) and one pack contain three masks. Size S is recommended for children over the height of 110cm. One pack of three masks costs RM39.90 and you can get them in stores and online on 14 September.
They are machine washable but the Uniqlo team has found that the functionality of the filter decreases to 95% for bacteria and 93% for pollen. It should also be washed in a laundry net with detergent.
Uniqlo has announced that only one pack of each size and colour may be purchased per customer. They may be out of stock but consumers should not worry as they will be restocking it continuously.
