Police Arrest Two Teens After Basikal Lajak Stunt in Subang Jaya, Nearly Causes an Accident

The actions of two teenagers riding modified bicycles (basikal lajak) dangerously led to trouble when they were detained by police after a video of their stunt went viral on social media last Thursday.

Subang Jaya District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Wan Azlan Wan Mamat, said a report was received at about 5:13 PM on Saturday.

ā€œA police report was lodged by an individual who provided a video link showing two teenagers riding dangerously at the Putra Heights traffic light junction.”

Almost caused an accident

ā€œInvestigations revealed that the incident occurred on December 4 at around 5:55 PM, showing the two teenagers riding from Persiaran Putra Perdana towards Kampung Tengah before running a red light,ā€ he said in a statement.

He added that their actions nearly caused an accident when they almost collided with a moving car during a green light, endangering themselves and other road users.

ā€œFollowing the information received, Subang Jaya IPD Traffic personnel tracked down and detained both underage teenagers in Bukit Lanchong.”

ā€œThey were taken to Subang Jaya IPD for further investigation,ā€ he said.

The case is being investigated under Section 54(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

ā€œThe public with any information is urged to assist the investigation by contacting BSPT IPD Subang Jaya Investigating Officer, Inspector Mohd Azizul Hakim Roslan, at 011-28914495,ā€ he said.
