A video of a police chase near the Behrang (southbound) R&R shows a burglar being apprehended by authorities after a dramatic pursuit involving gunfire.

The suspect, who was driving a Perodua Aruz, fled the scene and was chased by police out of the rest stop.

The suspect attempted to flee against traffic before being stopped by police gunfire

According to Perak Police Chief Datuk Noor Hisam Nordin, the incident occurred around 12:30 PM and involved a group of officers pursuing an individual attempting to escape in the Aruz.

“The Perodua Aruz was one of three vehicles currently being targeted by police in the Manjung area. However, the other two — a Toyota Hilux and a Perodua Alza — managed to escape,” he said.

The MPV nearly escaped after driving against traffic and attempting to enter the highway, but was eventually stopped and the suspect apprehended.

“Upon investigation, police discovered burglary-related tools and a police uniform inside the vehicle,” he added.

“There were three suspects involved in the burglary. When the chase began in Manjung, the Aruz driver took the Manjung–Tapah route. We had to shoot the tyres to slow him down.”

Police investigations into the incident and related crimes are currently ongoing.
