An unwanted incident happened during the State Elections’ Nomination Day yesterday (29 July) after a drone which was illegally flown crashed and hit a woman on the head.
As reported by Astro Awani, the incident happened in Kuala Kedah, whereby the drone crashed on the woman, a Perikatan Nasional (PN) supporter during a gathering for the Nomination Day.
The woman suffered injuries and has since been sent to the hospital for treatment. Thankfully, the woman is now in stable condition after getting treatment.
The drone itself is not a regular drone, as it is not meant for recording video but instead a large one for agricultural purposes.
Kedah Police Chief Datuk Fisol Salleh asserted,
“The drone was flown for agricultural purposes but somehow lost its way and ended up at the location. No arrests have been made just yet as the incident is still under investigation,”
However, an arrest did happen in another area in Kedah, whereby a 24-year-old man was apprehended by the police at 9am yesterday in Pendang for flying a drone near supporters of the State Election.
Previously, the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) announced a prohibition on flying drones throughout the State Elections to ensure the safety and smoothness of the election period.
