A picture paints a thousand words. That sentiment, every person can agree on. But sometimes, one particular photo can mean so much more to a select group of individuals than one may be able to imagine, and in those circumstances, such an item would be recognised as nothing short of priceless.
Creative Factory Painting has made a name for itself as an artistic organisation which creates reimagined paintings of people for special occasions. Most of these items include the formation of artistic works of people who are no longer around.
However, one of their most recent creations has been making waves online, after the company created a custom image for the family of an air steward who was on-board flight MH370. Sharing the item to their TikTok page @creativefactory_painting, the company showed just how they created it.
Providing some background on the image, the company decided to create a painting for Intan Maizura Othaman, wife of Mohd Hazrin Mohamed Hasnan, an air steward who was working on MH370 when it disappeared. As part of the 10th year anniversary since the aircraft’s disappearance, the company decided to create this special image for Intan and her 2 children.
At the time of MH370’s disappearance, Intan was pregnant with her youngest child and only son, Muhammad, who is now 10 years old. In a series of clips strung together for the TikTok video, the painting company overlapped their process with background voices of Intan in past interviews, where she explained her husband’s disappearance to her children.
By using photos of Hazrin from 2014, and photos of Intan and her 2 children at present-day, the artists at Creative Factory were able to sketch a complete image of the family as one unit, before using digital paint to provide colour to the photo.
After completing the beautiful piece, the artists then organised a special presentation for Intan and Muhammad to view the painting. Upon seeing it, the young boy had an emotional exchange with his mother, as she smiled at the immaculately stunning image.
“To be honest, he’s my buddy. He’s my husband, so I miss him so much. I feel at peace with what has happened. To me, he is on his way to his next stop, as usual. Even though people say he is probably in the Indian Ocean, but if he is there, I hope he is resting in peace. Be calm,” said Intan in the video.
In a brief conversation with WORLD OF BUZZ, a representative from Creative Factory Painting said that the item was a gift to Intan and her family on the company’s behalf. According to said representative, they were compelled to construct the piece as they are inspired by creating portraits for families with amazing stories, such as that relating to Intan, Hazrin, and their kids.
“It’s the stories behind the paintings that we are highlighting. Her son cried a lot after seeing the picture, as he related to the painting a lot though he never met his father. Puan Intan herself was amazed and thanked us a lot for this. She mentioned how this is something that wouldn’t happen in real life, but only in one’s dreams,” added the representative.
Garnering a massive response online, many Malaysians commented not only on how beautiful the company’s gesture was, but how strong Intan is throughout this process, especially during the 10th anniversary of MH370’s disappearance.
“You are very strong sister, may you continue to be strong through all of this,” wished one user.
