One of the things Malaysians miss most during this pandemic is being able to watch movies at the cinema with friends and family, but because all cinemas in the country have been temporarily closed for the past few months until further notice, there’s no knowing when that can happen.
Now that several economic sectors have been allowed to open to fully vaccinated individuals, Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC) is urging the government to allow them to operate again as well.
“Please allow us to open for fully vaccinated moviegoers. Please let us #ReopenCinemas! #HelloWeCan” they wrote in a tweet.
They also tagged Minister of Communications and Multimedia, Annuar Musa and Minister of Health Khairy Jamaluddin as well as the National Security Council (MKN).
Netizens also expressed their desire for cinemas to open again, especially when several Marvel movies are about to be released soon.
- “Sitting apart. Double vaccinated only. Social distancing. Mask on while watching movies. We need to escape into movies. For my mental health!!”
- “Yes please, I miss cinemas so much especially GSC. We need cinemas for our mental health, for our escape. A lot of good ones coming up too.”
- “Agreee, with physical distancing no problem. Miss to laugh in the cinema hall.”
- “This would be a great morale booster with the correct SOPs.”
- “OH PLS I WANNA WATCH SPIDERMAN”
What do you think about this? Is it safe for cinemas to reopen for fully vaccinated individuals? Let us know in the comments below!
