Plane Tragically Crashes into the Sea in Thailand During Trial Flight, Only Pilot Survives

A group of Thai police officers were killed when the twin-engine turboprop aircraft they were on crashed into the sea in the Phetchaburi province this morning (Friday, April 25).

According to a report by Thai PBS World, police spokesperson, Pol Lt Gen Archayon Kraithong, shared that the de Havilland DHC 6-400 Twin Otter plane was on a trial flight in preparation for a parachute exercise when the crash happened.

A rescue team at the scene found 5 deceased officers and a surviving officer, who was taken to the Hua Hin Hospital for treatment.

While initial reports indicated that the surviving officer, who was piloting the plane, had been pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital, Pol Lt Gen Archayon Kraithong confirmed that he is still alive and is currently under close observation in the ICU.

The cause of the crash has yet to be identified, but investigations are underway.

A video of the crash has since gone viral on social media, showcasing the plane in a nosedive into the sea, as well as the aftermath of the plane wreckage in shallow waters, not far from Cha-am beach.
