In an incident that is currently going viral online, a balloon vendor landed in the hospital following a physical dispute with Kuala Lumpur City Council (DBKL) officers over his not having a license to conduct his business.
While DBKL shared that they had warned the vendor 3 times before attempting to confiscate his items, the vendor later said that he didn’t receive any warnings and does not know how to apply for a license.
Now, a political party is stepping up to assist the vendor

According to a report by BERNAMA, Federal Territories People’s Justice Party (PKR) Chairman, Datuk Azman Abidin, shared that his party will help the vendor with applying for and obtaining a hawker’s license in an initiative aimed at securing a stable livelihood for him and his family.
“We have assured him that once he recovers, he can meet me and we (FT PKR) will assist him with obtaining a hawker’s license,” he said.
The local authorities must play their part too
In a statement shared to their website, Datuk Azman Abidin added that the local authorities should be proactive in easing processes for small business owners, hawkers and vendors.

“I believe that every individual, especially small traders, has the right to earn a living in a safe and orderly manner. Therefore, I call on the local authorities to take proactive steps in facilitating the business license application process for small traders, like brother Zaimuddin, without compromising public order and compliance with existing regulations,” he explained.
He has since also urged the public to allow the authorities to investigate this matter.
