The viral balloon vendor involved in a physical dispute with the DBKL officers has broken the silence and shared his side of the story.

In DBKL’s statement, the officers were said to have warned the balloon vendor three times before confiscating his items, which escalated the matter. The balloon vendor, on the other hand, said he was never warned at all.

“I am unlicensed and I was afraid to even see them because I knew they would confiscate my goods. I wanted to apply for the license but I didn’t know about the procedure.”

In the meantime, the vendor also clarified the rumours that claimed he was a foreigner, saying that he was born and bred in Jerantut, Pahang.

The vendor, who is currently hospitalised at Hospital Serdang, said that he could be suffering from a fractured back. In the video posted by Arau MP Shahidan Kassim, the vendor received a visit from Shahidan’s officer, who gave him some financial aid and left his contact number.

The vendor also said he has lodged a police report about the matter.

According to Sinar Harian, PDRM confirmed that police reports from both sides – DBKL and the balloon vendor – had been received.

“Five statements have been recorded so far involving four DBKL enforcement officers and the balloon hawkers involved.”

“So far, the police have not made any arrests in relation to this case and the investigation is being completed with witness statements, especially independent witnesses, as well as reviewing closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage at the scene of the incident,” said Dang Wangi District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Sulizmie Affendy Sulaiman.
