Ever since the first phase of the Movement Control Order, the only constant we’ve all known are the roadblocks. Our dedicated police and military set up roadblocks no matter rain or shine to ensure the MCO was obeyed.

On the 7th of June, the IGP (Inspector-General of Police) has said in a statement that they’ll be halting the roadblocks during the RMCO. The only roadblocks that they will still be operating are the Ops Benteng (to deter illegal immigrants from entering the country) and Ops Mabuk (to curb drunk-driving). There will also still be a few of them to ensure traffic control.

To commemorate the ending of their duties, PDRM and ATM removed the barricades at exactly 12am today.

Since interstate travel is now allowed, Chief of Police Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador, said that there were already cars entering Kuala Lumpur and some even heading towards the east coast presumably to balik kampung.

One group of PDRM and ATM contingent even had a special photoshoot to signify the end of their long journey which was definitely filled with many sleepless nights and exhaustion.

Let’s never forget the sacrifices of our frontliners throughout the MCO. Despite encountering stubborn Malaysians on a daily basis, they put on a strong face and went on with their duties. For that, we salute you!
