In case you didn’t know, the Mid-Autumn Festival will be arriving pretty soon and the shops are beginning to sell mooncakes in conjunction with the festival. There are so many flavours to choose from as bakeries and shops get more and more creative, hoping to attract the attention of consumers.
However, one of the more quirky flavours that has gotten our attention recently is the petai mooncake and well, it looks like nothing you’ve ever seen before! This innovative mooncake is made by a home baker located in Ipoh, and she has a whole range of petai products that are bound to entice any fans of the pungent vegetable.
The petai mooncake is also different from the traditional mooncakes, as it has a spicy filling inside instead of the sweet kind. Basically, the baker said that the mooncake is made of potatoes, spices and petai, which actually sounds pretty delicious if you think about it.
That’s not all, she also has other petai products, which are petai sambal dumplings, petai steamed buns and petai cucur udang. Prices start from RM15 for two pieces and RM28 for four pieces. Vegetarians will also be glad to know that this mooncake is vegetarian-friendly as there is no lard or meat inside. They deliver to other states as well.
