There’s a fine line between punishing and abusing someone, and a teacher in Penang recently crossed this line by going overboard with his actions towards a primary school student. How heartless!
According to The Star, a woman from Hilir Sungai Pinang lodged a police report after learning that her eight-year-old daughter was brutally beaten by her teacher. Besides that, he also threw his shoe at the girl. That’s unacceptable!
Her mother, Fazilah Abdul Rahim claimed that she learnt about the horrific story when her crying daughter complained about her aching stomach and back.
Her mother said, “My daughter said the teacher poured water on her, drenching her uniform. She has been traumatised from the incident and the police should investigate and take action.”
The girl’s worried mother even provided photos of her daughter’s bruised back as proof to strengthen her case. Good move!
FMT reported that the police have taken statements from the mother and daughter yesterday (13 July 2018). Police chief ACP Anuar Omar said that the case will be investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt and it has also been raised to the public prosecutor’s office. Looks like the teacher must pay for what he has done!
State Education Committed chairman Dr P Ramasamy said that he wants to meet with Fazilah to discuss the allegations.
“Bullying in schools should stop. If the teacher is guilty, I will urge the state Education Department to take stern action,” he said.
I could only imagine the horror the poor eight-year-old went through when she was being physically abused by her teacher who should have been educating her instead. Hopefully, the police will get to the bottom of this case as soon as possible!
Stay strong, little girl!
