All Malaysians know that Penang is THE state for amazing, mouth-watering food. As we’re spoilt for choice, the number 1 dish that always comes to mind when we think of Penang is… Char Kuey Teow!
While there’s so many amazing stalls to choose from to have Penang’s famous Fried Kuey Teow, one that is known to many is the one located in Siam Road!

The uncle has been serving up delicious Char Kuey Teow for decades, and you can bet his business is doing very well. On average, a customer will have to wait for an hour before they are finally rewarded with a plate of his heavenly Fried Kuey Teow. Yes, one friggin’ hour!
Before this uncle even sets up his store at 3pm, there is already a long queue waiting! And it only gets longer from there!
A video shared by Facebook page, I Love Penang, showed how a queue formed even before the CKT uncle set up his roadside stall, while a couple guys hilariously chanted “Char Kuey Teow” upon seeing the uncle arriving! More popular than some of our local celebrities man!
A lot of people who have tried this CKT praised its fragrant taste, with some even rated it as the Number 1 spot for CKT! One of the reasons being this uncle using charcoal fire to fry his noodles which makes it a lot yummier! Although the average waiting time is 30 minutes to an hour, many have said that it is indeed worth the wait.

The stall is so popular that there’s a kopitiam nearby known as Kedai Kopi Hock Ban Hin that’s dedicated to serve these waiting customers. How dedicated? They don’t have any other food stalls in there! Customers will flock to the kopitiam for some drinks while patiently waiting for their CKT.
Convinced yet? So, if you ever find yourself in Penang, don’t forget to check this stall out! Just make sure you don’t go there with an empty stomach 😉
