Polis Diraja Malaysia (PDRM) officers will be conducting house visits on Hari Raya to patrol and inspect SOPs just as they did last year. Bukit Aman Department of Internal Security and Public Order (KDNKA) director Datuk Seri Abd Rahim Jaafar said the patrol was carried out to ensure that no party or individual was detected travelling interstate without permission.
According to Astro Awani, the director added that the patrol was also to ensure Malaysians were complying with SOPs. This compliance will ensure there are no Covid-19 infection clusters during the festival season.
Some Malaysians allegedly use the opportunity to travel across state borders during bad weather as they know those police officers would be taking shelter then. Facebook users who came across this announcement reminded the PDRM officers to not only inspect the houses of regular Malaysians but also of VIPs.
“Don’t just visit the houses of regular Malaysians but take some time to visit the houses of VIPs or politicians. Although, we know you won’t be able to take immediate actions, you’ll just open an investigation paper.”
Overall, Malaysians are just hoping for equal implementation of rules among different Malaysians. The frustration is apparent as with previous cases, the authorities do take a longer time to convict VIPs when they have clearly violated SOPs.
