The police are currently tracking down a Covid-19 patient after he fled from Tampin Hospital yesterday (30 December).
The 33-year-old patient and former prisoner from Jelebu Prison, M. Gunasegaran, is believed to have escaped the hospital through the back stairs, used by garbage collectors.
Tampin District Police Chief, Superintendent Anuwal Ab. Wahab explained that they received a report from a supervisor from the Tampin Hospital, who was informed by a chief nurse that a positive Covid-19 patient had just escaped Ward 2C.
“The patient has an address in Seri Kembangan, Selangor, and was admitted into the ward on 29 December,” he said in a statement, recorded by Utusan Malaysia.
According to Sinar Harian, the patient is believed to have cut his quarantine bracelet off his wrist in order to avoid being caught while escaping the hospital premises.
