A 19-year-old man was recently arrested by PDRM on suspicion of burying his newborn in Cameron Highlands, Pahang, a discovery that revealed a forbidden relationship.

The baby’s body was found by the suspect’s father around 10 am on Thursday (July 17), behind their house near a water tank. Cameron Highlands Police Chief Superintendent Azri Ramli said the father noticed a patch of disturbed soil near the tank and, upon closer inspection, discovered a white cloth.

The newborn, whom the suspect allegedly fathered with his stepsister, was wrapped in the cloth.

According to Azri, the father immediately lodged a police report, and the suspect was arrested later that day at 5:30 pm. The stepsister, who gave birth to the baby on July 15, is 21 years old. It is believed that the teenager had been involved in an incestuous relationship with her.

Tools such as hoes and shovels, believed to have been used to dig the burial site, were also seized.

The suspect has been remanded for four days starting Friday (July 18) to assist in investigations under Section 318 of the Penal Code, which pertains to concealing the birth and death of a child, according to PDRM’s official statement.
