A married man in Kluang, Johor, has been arrested by the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) for raping his niece two years ago, when she was only 15 years old.

The incident occurred at the suspect’s home in 2023, around 3 pm, when the victim was staying overnight. According to the 37-year-old suspect’s confession, he raped his underage niece while she was asleep. The victim never told anyone about the traumatic experience due to fear.

Kluang District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Bahrin Mohd Noh, stated that the suspect recently made a similar request, asking for a “gift” for his birthday. On June 24, around 7 am, he texted the victim and asked for a “birthday gift.”

The victim replied that she didn’t have money to buy a gift.

The suspect then told her that she didn’t need to spend any money, implying that the “gift” he wanted was sexual in nature. The victim immediately understood his intentions.

She lodged a police report last Saturday (July 5), and the suspect was subsequently arrested. He has no prior criminal record and tested negative for drug use, according to Kosmo.

The suspect is currently being detained for five days, and the case is being investigated under Section 376 of the Penal Code for rape.
