Pandelela Rinong will be advancing to the finals in the Women’s 10m Platform Diving at the Tokyo Olympics 2020!
The two-time Olympic medalist managed to secure a spot in 7th place out of 18 semi-finalists. Only the top 12 divers can advance to the finals.
Pandelela was the first in line to kick off the first set, starting off strong with 67.5. She finished in 5th place after Round 1 and managed to secure enough points in the four consecutive rounds to finish in 7th place.
The pressure is on for the 28-year-old as she will be competing in the finals that will take place this afternoon (5 August) at 2pm. With only a few hours left for preparation, Pandelela will go against 11 other women to bag a medal.
Just yesterday (4 August) during the preliminary round, Pandelela just made it to 18th place, securing her a spot in the semi-finals. Cheong Jun Hoong, on the other hand, finished in 26th place and could not advance to the semi-finals.
