The Attorney General’s Chambers Malaysia (AGC), in an official statement today (March 19) confirmed that the man who slapped a 21-year-old non-Muslim recently will be charged again this evening following a technical issue in the initial charges.

In its statement, AGC said the suspect should be charged and the technical issue that arose during the proceedings this morning at the Johor Bahru Magistrate Court has been resolved.
The elderly man, 65-year-old Abdul Razak who recently slapped a non-Muslim for eating publicly at a convenience store during Ramadan was granted DNAA (Dismissal Not Amounting to Acquittal) by the Court this morning. In a report by Sin Chew, after pleading guilty, Abdul disagreed with the description of the case that states “the victim’s face was swollen”.
Abdul also said he pleaded guilty because he didn’t want to interfere with his son’s working hours.

The court eventually rejected Abdul’s plea before AGC issued the statement. If found guilty, Abdul may face up to one year in jail, a fine of not more than RM2,000, or both under Section 323 of the Penal Code.
