Covid-19 does not care for race, political affiliation or religion, and responding to a health crisis of this scale requires every man, woman and child to pitch in and do something about it.

Understanding this, opposition leaders bandied together to develop a strategy that will help manage the spread of the coronavirus.

Titled as “Use Science & Best Practices to Battle Covid-19”, the group consisting of former Health Minister Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad, former Deputy Health Minister Dr Lee Boon Chye, former Minister of Energy, Science, Technology, Environment and Climate Change Yeo Bee Yin and former Deputy Minister of Energy, Science, Technology, Environment and Climate Change Isnaraissah Munirah Majilis, urged the government to carry out several important steps that may change the course of Covid-19 cases in the country.

Tweeting about the initiative, Yeo Bee Yin wrote, “We issued a statement to call for the government to do these two things urgently: embark on mass testing exercise at targeted areas and a complete overhaul of the contact tracing system & MySejahtera.”

In their official statement, all four members urged that the government needs to continue innovating, acting pre-emptively and proactively to brave the third wave of Covid-19.

Let’s hope that more suggestions will come from experts in the field to help break the Covid-19 chain!
