We all know food delivery riders don’t have it easy. They have to brave dangerous weather conditions, slow restaurants, and fussy customers when completing their food deliveries.
Nonetheless, it is their responsibility to carry out their tasks properly and one grab rider has taken it upon himself to remind his peers of this.
Recently, one GrabFood rider, who calls himself Grab Nizam (grab_nizam) posted a TikTok video asking his fellow GrabFood riders to not slack off at work.
It seems like after encountering an OKU aunty who asked him to deliver her order to her flat’s doorstep on the 4th floor, Nizam learned that many GrabFood riders have refused to do so because the aunty’s flat doesn’t have a lift.
“This aunty complained that many GrabFood riders refuse to go upstairs because her flat is on the fourth floor and there’re no lifts,” wrote Nizam in the video.
He added that when the aunty asked the GrabFood riders to deliver her food to her doorstep, they gave all sorts of excuses not to do so.
“But do you know why she asked to go up? This aunty is an OKU. Please riders, don’t just rush through your orders.”
Netizens show understanding
In the comments, netizens agreed with Nizam that GrabFood riders should deliver their orders to their customers’ doorsteps when possible but they also understand that it can be tiring for them to do so.
So, as a thank you to the riders, they’ll usually give them some tips.
“If I order, I’ll always ask the rider to come up and they’ll do it even if they lift is broken. But as a thank you, I’ll give them tips.
“I’m willing to give extra money if the rider can deliver till my doorstep.”
