Official Car For Ministers Changed From Perdana To Toyota Vellfire As Monthly Rental Is Cheaper By RM2.80

In the past month, we have heard the news where PDRM was getting new BMWs as their chase cars.

However, this time the government made a decision to change the official government car (KRJ) that was originally a Proton Perdana 2.4 Premium to a Toyota Vellfire 2.5L.

According to the Ministry of Finance (MOF), they made this decision as the Toyota Vellfire 2.5 has a much cheaper monthly rental rate compared to a Proton Perdana 2.4 Premium.

With a rate of RM4,851.61/month, the Toyota Vellfire 2.5L is cheaper by only RM2.80 compared to the Proton Perdana 2.4 Premium which is RM4,84.41/month.

Based on the statement, another reason for this change is because the production of the Proton Perdana 2.4 Premium has stopped in 2014.

It was also mentioned that this decision was already considered before by the previous Government, however the implementation was adjourned to this year.

“For everyone’s information, before this change, the age of KRJ used to be 6 years for the Cabinet, when actually it was supposed to be scheduled once every 4 years,” they said in the statement.
