In a TikTok video uploaded by user syedazzman, a female student is seen bowing politely to the car after she crossed a zebra crossing.

The video is recorded with a dashcam, where the driver is seen decelerating and giving way to the girl who is wearing a student uniform. The girl bows at the driver afterwards and the setting seems to be outside of a school.

Japan ❌ Malaysia ✅ #steady” the caption states. The video is being compared to Japan because Japanese students are known for their politeness and there were also videos that have gone viral in previous years where Japanese students bow when crossing the road.

Responding to the video, netizens left heartwarming comments like,

“she has high manners”

“This should be normalised.”

“Alhamdulillah girl, hope you succeed in your academics”

“Waahh respect”

“That’s great, a sign of respect.”

Many netizens praised her for being polite, while some said that this kind gesture should be normalised. There are also people who commented that they would do the same, or would lift their hand as a sign of saying thank you. As of the time of writing, the video has received more than 1 million views and 167k likes.

We hope that more Malaysians can be inspired by uplifting videos like such and learn to be more polite and respectful in our daily lives. Kudos to the student and hope she succeeds in her studies!
